MONEY - 1st draft reading at BMO Lab
On April 24-25 2024, a star-studded team of Canadian theatre artists gathered at U of T's BMO Lab to read Rick Miller's first draft of MONEY, an epic new play in 3 Acts. The 8 performers included Miller, Maev Beaty, Sébastien Heins, Ryan Cunningham, Rachel Cairns, plus 3 new team members Oliver Dennis, Yanna McIntosh, and Heeyun Park.
Based on content developed in workshops in 2022, Miller wrote over 100 pages of dialogue, and laid out a clear vision for how this epic production will come to life.
Act 1 details the events around the global financial crash of 2008, and how they connect our 8 main characters' lives.
Act 2, set in 1988, providing the 'origin story' for the characters, relationships and conflicts.
Act 3 takes the 8 main storylines into the year 2028, where we speculate about the future, and bring the stories to a stirring close.
